ABOUT THE MISSION
Nazareth in the heart of Karamoja
Our Lady of Fatima Parish – Nawanatau is located in the Karamoja region, a suburb of Moroto town, made up of about fifty large villages/communities, in northeastern Uganda. Amidst the dry savannah, poverty and the daily struggle for survival, this parish has become a place where hope, faith and new communion are born.
Five branches – one heart of the mission
The parish is pastorally very large and consists of five branches:
Nadunget – a gathering place for families, young people and children, where faith is transmitted through catechesis and communal prayer.
Koopoe/Acerer – a village of simple people, where everyday life becomes prayer and trust in God's providence.
Nataparakwangan/Kaetin – communities that, despite many challenges, are patiently learning the path of peace and reconciliation.
Musas – an area where hope is born amidst drought, scarcity, and the trials of everyday life.
Through these branches, the mission reaches numerous villages and many remote communities.

ABOUT THE MISSION
More than 35,000 believers
The Mission of Our Lady of Fatima – Nawanatau has over 35,000 believers.
These are mainly members of the Karimojong people, Matenyiko clan, who are slowly but powerfully discovering the beauty of the Gospel, the power of community and the closeness of God in their concrete reality.
Despite poverty, lack of food, water and basic conditions, the faithful gather for prayer, the celebration of Holy Mass, catechesis and common meetings. Their faith grows precisely from simplicity and the daily struggle for life.
Mary – Mother of the Poor
As the heavenly protector of the parish, Our Lady of Fatima accompanies this mission with her intercession.
Believers turn to her with trust, bringing their worries, fears and hopes to her. They recognize in her a Mother who understands suffering, but also leads to the light of resurrection.
In Karimojong Nazareth – Nawanata – Mary walks the dusty roads with her people. She teaches them to keep peace in their hearts, to remain faithful in trials, and to trust in God's love even when everything seems difficult and uncertain.
ABOUT OUR MISSION
NAZARETH TODAY
To call Nawanatau Karimojong Nazareth is to recognize that God continues to incarnate in humility and poverty. Here:
Every piece of bread shared with another becomes a sign of love,
Every drop of water is experienced as a gift from God,
Every prayer emerges from the depths of the heart and carries with it the hope of a people.
Our Lady of Fatima Parish – Nawanatau wants to be a place where faith is translated into concrete acts of merciful love , and where the most vulnerable find comfort, support, and the feeling that they are not forgotten .
